Container Closure Integrity Testing

Container Closure Integrity Testing (CCIT) has become increasingly important in the pharmaceutical industry to maintain drug product sterility and stability throughout the product life cycle.

To ensure the final product quality, automated machines offer a non-destructive and effective method to test 100% of all units, even in large batches.

Key Benefits

Product safety is patient safety

Our CCIT solutions test individual containers for leaks and other quality attributes, ensuring the container's effectiveness in preventing contaminants and maintaining the product's stability for patient safety.

The appropriate technology for your product

We provide customized laboratory and consulting services to help you choose the most suitable method for each product and container before initiating the machine project.

Improve production processes

Enhance manufacturing procedures by acquiring scientific and analytical data that can aid in gaining knowledge and improving upstream processes.

Methods and equipment for container closure integrity testing for your product

KHS Series

Headspace analysis (HSA) using lasers can detect the absorption of light by oxygen and/or water vapor molecules, making it possible to identify containers with higher oxygen, pressure, or moisture levels. This rapid and non-destructive optical method is suitable for testing large batches of containers, detecting both temporary and permanent leaks with high reliability. The KHS series from JJ Corp features HSA technology from Lighthouse Instruments, ensuring the highest quality standards. The machine has a user-friendly design that is flexible and modular, making it easy to access and maintain.

  • Automated compact platform for 100% Container Closure Integrity (CCI) testing
  • Covers a wide range of formats from 2R to 250 ml
  • High detection rate and low false reject rate due to automatic calibration and re-inspection
  • Separate eject for too dirty containers (optional)
  • HSA modules, formats, and products can be retrofitted to the machine.

KLD Series

The KLD series of leak detection machines from JJ Corp continues the company’s legacy as a leading manufacturer of such machines since the mid-80s. The latest generation offers improved precision in measurement, data acquisition and recipe setup tools, and gentle container transport, making it easy to handle and maintain. The technology used in the KLD series is fast and reliable, ensuring 100% container closure integrity testing (CCIT) through the application of high AC voltages (up to 30 kV) and detecting leaks by elevated current responses.

  • Successful implementation of CCIT for liquid aqueous products, including projects for WFI and low fill
  • Highly sensitive measurement capability
  • Safe and sturdy high voltage system
  • Easy-to-use test mode for repetitive measurements of product samples or reference containers
  • Expert support and consulting services available

Combined CCIT and Visual Inspection

JJ Corp provides machine platforms that integrate visual and CCIT inspection methods to achieve higher product quality, which is encouraged by the new EU GMP Annex 1 (Draft 2020). These platforms include the AIM 3000 series, the AIM 296 plus series, and the DIR syringe inspection line.

  • Decades of expertise in both visual inspection and CCIT combined in machine platforms
  • Reduced machine footprints save space
  • High output rates of up to 27,000 containers per hour
